I was having lunch with a friend & the topic of the fastest car in Singapore came up. His eight year old son was getting interested in cars and had asked him which was the fastest car in Singapore. I wasn't sure which supercar was the fastest today, but I excitedly declared that the 1977 Porsche 930 was the fastest production car from Germany at the time of its launch. A check reviewed that Singapore's fastest car in 2013 is the Koenigsegg Agera, and as reported in the Straits Times it is also the most expensive at $5.3 million.
With the tax structure for new cars in Singapore pushing the prices of new supercars even higher, classic supercars from the 70s like the 930 Turbo may be an interesting choice for supercar buyers, especially if they are looking to collect the supercars they dreamed of in their youth.
The first turbocharged production Porsche, top of the line & fastest 911 model. Attributes that have contributed to the phenomenon rise in values of the early 911 turbos which are at up to 5 x the price of standard 911s in the global classic car markets. With global prices at this high level & the high import taxes for classic cars into Singapore, this may be the best time to snatch one that is already in Singapore.
